How do I get to Morocco?
Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) is the best to fly to if you coming to Morocco. its served by direct flights from the European airports, with flight times between 2 to 4 hours. Guests travelling from the US can connect either in Casablanca or at a European airport as there are no direct flights to Marrakech airport. transfer can be arranged for 15 Euros per person.

Do I need a visa?
If you hold an EU passport you are entitled to visit Morocco for up to 90 days without a visa. If you are coming from outside the EU, we advise you to check with your nearest Moroccan embassy for further information.
What currency is used in Morocco ? Where can I get cash?
The Moroccan currency is the Dirham (MAD). Dirhams can only be obtained within Morocco. There are exchange facilities and ATMs in the airport. There are also plenty of ATMs in Marrakech.
Nearly all European networks work in Morocco. Contact your network for call charges. Coverage is good. There are an abundance of public phones (coin and cards) ) . International call charges are relatively cheap. There is free wifi available at the apartments in Marrakech, at Dai-naima in Imesoune and at Ifni surf camp. There are also broadband internet cafés practically everywhere.

What is the Surf and the Snow like?
Morocco is an all year round destination for great surf and great weather. The summer months (April - October) see small to medium swells with surf mostly on the beaches and reefs on the more exposed north west coast. This is a great time for anyone looking for fun, uncrowded warm water surf. There are some bigger days during this time for those looking for something more challenging.
During the winter months the waves, that have made Morocco famous, come to life. There is a huge variety of surf in this area of Morocco. There are not many places like it in the world. The region has something for everyone, from ideal beginner waves to challenging reef ledges. Intermediates and those new to the sport should not be put off or worried. Due to the nature of the coastline there is almost always somewhere sheltered and manageable, and those looking for something challenging won’t be disappointed.
Oukaimeden is one of the premier skiing resorts on the African continent and it’s the main ski resort of Morocco. It’s located 70 km from Marrakech at 3257 above the sea level. The skiing area is at the altitude between 2600 and 3200 meteres. The high altitude means that the snow is pretty reliable from January until late March or April.
Dubai-based company Emaar is investing $ 1.2 billion in oukaimeden – improving the infrastructure, updayting the lefts and the runs, introducing snow-cannons, bulding 11 luxury hotels and installing the word’s highest 18-hole golf course. Planning started and before long this truly old fashioned little ski resort will probably start to look much like any other. Catch Oukaimeden in the raw while you still can!
What is the weather like?
Morocco is blessed with well over 300 days of sunshine a year. Between the months November to February there is a small chance of rain, although statistically it is unlikely. It can get cooler in winter in the evenings, particularly during October-March and a little cold at night during November-February specialty in Marrakech as its only an hour away from the Atlas mountains.
What about clothing?
Morocco is a liberal Muslim country, and men and women are welcome to wear shorts and t-shirts. At the beach: Normal beachwear; shorts, swimming costumes and bikinis.
Around town: Shorts/t-shirts are fine. It is respectful to cover up your shoulders and knees when going into town.
Trousers and jumpers are sometimes needed particularly in mid winter when the evenings can be chilly by the beach to cold in the mountains. so warm clothes are a good idea during that period. For skiers and snowboarders waterproof jackets, trousers are required. We only provide skis / snowboards. and the boots.
What about alcohol?
Although Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol by Muslims, alcoholic drinks can be legally served and sold throughout the country for touristic purposes. Morocco even produces its own range of wines and beers . for those who prefer a night of dancing and drinks, in Marrakech you will find from lounges to what it claims to be the biggest clubs in Africa.
Taghazout is a dry town so you will not be able to buy alcohol in any shops, however it can be bought in Agadir and brought back to the camp.
What else is there to do apart from the surf & snow?
Marrakech is itself an historical city to visit and the surrounding area offer a whole range of other activities. If you feel like a break from (surfing,skiing or snowboarding) then horse and camel riding, quad biking, Air ballooning, Zip line, mountain biking, hamam / Massage, Desert trips.. are all close by and easily organaized from Marrakech . For those who’d like to relax there are miles of empty golden sandy beaches to discover or you can sunbathe and chill out. The souq's of the Medina in Marrakech provide the quintessential Moroccan shopping experience. There is a great Souq (market) which has all the stuff you would expect in Morocco: an abundance of leather goods, woodwork, ceramics, rugs, carpets, jewellery and clothing. Non threatening haggling is part of the fun!

I am travelling alone, is this ok?
Not a problem! We regularly host solo travellers, and being keen travellers ourselves, we will ensure you are well looked after. We arrange a safe pick up service to collect you from the airport (whatever time or day you arrive) and bring you directly to your accomodation so you don’t have to worry about finding a taxi on your own. Once you’re here, there are plenty of opportunities for you to socialise with other guests, and of course go Surfing, Skiing or Snowboarding with your group!
Can I bring a friend or my partner if they don’t want to surf, Ski or snowboard?
Of course! They are more than welcome to come along with you and relax on the beach or the mountains. If they fancy a change of scenery, then we can arrange other activities for them.
What plugs are used in Morocco?
Morocco uses 220 volts with two-pin round plugs.
Medical information
No vaccinations are required for visitors to Morocco and anti-malarial precautions are not necessary.
